Saw this on a nice old H&H sporter at the Beinfeld show in Las Vegas.
It would be nice if someone could build something like this today - it does not look to difficult

I have made one just like it in the past for a paradox gun. No big deal really.

Tidy&handsome- is the base let into the rear bridge, or is it laying on it?

That would make a nice accessory in any era.

Heed the words of Winston Smith in Orwell's 1984:

"Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right."

If you look at the top photo closely you can see that the base is contoured to fit the receiver and screwed on.

On my first glance it looks like it is the old REDFIELD flip up peep sight that was an option on Redfield 'scope bases machined down and then drilled and screwed to the rifle.
