Anyone know if there is an aftermarket kit to alter a Ruger Mark II safety to something more like a model 70? Or a shroud to replace the existing shroud and go to a tang safety?

Thanks

Frank,
the mkII safety is actually in the action, rather than the botl body... it rotates but doesn't come back with the bolt (not on the shroud).

I think a welder could make you a 1/8 to 3/16 longer tack on the side, then you have it blued, and it would be great...

i've heard of "convert to tang" on these, but never seen one

Thanks Jeffe. I have a line on a mk II in .257 ultra lite but I cannot handle the tiny flag for the safety.

Someone like Jim Wisner should tool up and amke a new improved after market saftey lever for the Mark 11's I reckon he would do all right.................remove the current one and drop in the wisner unit with a wider lever.

Exactly what I am looking for.
I could use the Boyd side lever instead but it creates a very large gap that isn't exactly in tune with the sweet lines of these extra lite rifles.
