very well, if you have a good smith do it.. i am working on using my 4th axis/mandrel/tailstock to hold these, as I want better than I am doing with interupted cuts on my lathe.

look up remington model 30 and you'll see exactly what a moderate level of rework can do

someone posted a gorgeous case-colored enfield a couple months back... (30 cal mag fan???). maybe he can do it again....i'm just waiting on another job to make, so i can have some spending $$$$....

The Metalsmith
The P17 is a natural for reworking, I think it'll clean up like a charm. Who made it? I just bought 2 Winchester actions the other day, now I'm just waiting to get some time off to go pick them up. Gonna build one in .375 H&H for a friend of mine to get him started in the big bore arena, than I'm building one for myself, a .470 Capstick.
These actions are fairly strong and built well, depending on who made it. They have a lot of potential for making a amazing custom rifle.
