Could/can you rechamber a 6.5x55 to a 260 Rem?

the 260 case is a bit shorter so unless one sets the barrel back most likely not. Plus the 260 I belive operates at higher pressure.

Yeah .. with ALOT of provisions .. that the barrel is suitable, that the shank is lone enough to setback and recut the chamber and threads, and that the stock won't be too screwed up

but, WHY?

about 4MM shorter, but with a MUCH longer neck .. if its not shooting well, you'll probably need a new barrel

i,m like snellstrom , why would you want to rechamber to an inferior caliber, just curious.

and what makes the .260REM inferior?

I think neither is superior or inferior that is why I would wonder why someone would want to change from either one to the other, their performance is very comparable so I see no reason to spend the dollars.

6,5x55 has a larger body diameter 0,480 compared to 260 rem which is 0,470 . woulden't that cause a problem?

You would have to be able to set the barrel back far enough to clean up the chamber.

Kind of like wanting to make a 243 from a 6mm hard to get there from here.

the why is I might be able to get LH rifle Ruger in 6.5x55 and I do not handload.

I mean to start handloading, so by the time the deal happens maybe I will have all the stuff gathered up.
