I am buying a MRC .325WSM this summer and was wondering what everybody thought would be the best way to break in the barrel. Could not find much in the archives. Thanks | ||

Shoot it till you get tired. Then go to the house and clean it. Repeat as often as possible. | |||

Use the "find" icon at the top of the page. In the "search box" enter the keyword phrase "barrel break in". You'll find at least 528 points of view on the topic. My advise? I concour with The Horseman and vapodog. | |||

Me Too Just shoot it clean it when you feel like it needs it. My new Savage 40 Hornet. I took it out and ran 50 rounds thru it , took it home filled it with Wipeout and left it over nite. me too- I sighted in a .221 a few weeks back, had such a good time I forgot all about the break in thing and ran a box and a half through it. It shot very well, and I don't think I'm in any trouble  | |||

The only thing I worry about in hand lapped barrels is the how the throat was cut and smoothing out that.
