I've been wondering the same thing. Last contact I had with him was PM exchanges in the later part of March.

His last post known to me was on 17 March in Technology Forum.

His computer was getting a bit old and shaky and he was asking for advice on a new one. Maybe his 'puter bit the dust and thats why he hasnt been on line.

I hope he is ok, he isnt that young himself as far as I know.

If we need to take up a collection to get him a new computer I'll be one of the first to donate. He's definately worth having around and missed when he's not here......................DJ

Greetings to all,

Alberta Canuck is a personal friend of mine. We stay in frequent contact. And yes he is a goldmine of good information, as well as having a heart of gold. He does have computer problems with a very tired one. He also has some other issues to deal with. I'm not willing to talk about his personal business but I suspect he will pop up here again soon.

In the meantime I will pass along the concerns and well wishes of everyone on the Gunsmithing Forum.

Pass along that if he buys a new computer to stay away from the Microsof Windows Vista operating system. It is a dog.

I talk to myself these days, so I've heard from him... Smiler

Gudlif told me about this thread, so I thought I had better come and express my appreciation for your good thoughts. I really miss you guys a lot, but have had some ticker problems recently that are not yet under control, so I scarcely even get to lurk anymore, let alone post. Hopefully things will get better.

The good side is, what little energy and time I've had has been spent mostly at the range....usually about 4-5 hours each Sunday.

Also should be receiving a new Ruger No. 1 .405 Winchester within one to two weeks. Hopefully another in 9.3x74-R will follow it shortly. (They can always throw them in the box with me, should that become appropriate.)

Also whipped the Lilja barrel off of my AMT bolt gun and put back on the fluted Ron Smith gain-twist (starts 1 turn in 19" at breech, ends 1 turn in 10.4" at muzzle), just for grins. A .30-BR, the Smith barrel previously was never accurate enough for competition, even after (or perhaps because) a nationally known g'smith chambered and fitted it for me some years ago, ignoring my requested dimensions and substituting his own. So I cut off a couple of threads and re-threaded and chambered it myself.

Also had (and still have) an RCBS .30 mould, the bullets from which were too small diameter (.309") to shoot well in any of my other barrels and so wasn't being used either. (My barrels are all set up for bullets .311" diameter or slightly larger.)

So to cut the story shorter, put on Hornady GCs and sized the checks to .311 (die didn't touch the bullet itself). Fired them in the Smith re-barreled AMT with 46.5 Culver Clicks of Vihtavouri 133. Rifle will now shoot 1/2 MOA or slightly smaller with that formerly useless bullet. That's still not good enough for competition, but neither am I these days, and it IS accurate enough to be some fun.

BTW, YOU guys are the good guys...YOU are among the ones who are not braggarts, and don't call each other names, or chase "status" brand names, who actually shoot and don't just parrot what is printed somewhere by some "eddycated" theorist. You're the ones who make the fora here worth while. I'll be back when the time is right. In the meantime, Best wishes to you all.

I don't want to hijack AC's return to the Forum, but check your e-mail. The package arrived today.

And A.C., welcome back. I missed you too. Cool
