Just about done with this one. Need to give a good rubout and cover the pad with leather. Checkered at 26lpi. 11pt wrap around on the forend. Two panel grip pattern with a saddle panel. This stock is for a clients 7mag build on a pre-war model 70.

Weather is crap today for taking pictures....I will take better ones later......

Rick,

I like those Dakota caps myself. Dont think I have ever used a brownell one. The pad is just a brown 7/8 Pachmayer Deccelerator. Sorry the picture makes it look red. You wont see it once I cover it with leather.

Nice Bill,,, I got a dakota grip like you said you use for the one im doing now. Like it, better than that brownell cap .

What pad is that red one on that stock ? where did ya get it?

I was thinking of a 1/2 " 752b pacmyre ,not the 1/2 decelerator though.
Thanks Rick

Nice job, Bill. Rather unusual figure in that blank. Is it slab-sawn? You are mighty brave to put it on that woodpile. If I did that, I would stumble on a log, knock the stock off the pile and the whole shebang would land on top of it!

I'd have already banged on something walking to the wood pile.

Red - I disremember at the moment what that blank cost. Been around here for a while. I can tell you this - it was an absolute pleasure to cut. Very clean and it checkered beautifully. If your asking me to bare my soul on my checkering.......well......okay I'll take some close ups.....but no laughing okay???

Glen - pretty sure its a slab sawn job. I made sure I set that stock very carefully on the wood pile - my coffee level was pretty low at the time so my hands were steady. Otherwise - ferget it......I would have hosed it up for sure!

Really beautiful. What does a blank like that run if you don't mind me asking?

would you mind doing some closeups of the forend pattern and the over the wrist portion?

Great work

Bill,
He ought to be tickled to death with this one. Post a picture once you get it all blued and together. I like the checkering pattern.

You gotta quit posting pics like that. You are killing me. Not to mention I am probably buring in Hell for breaking the Commandments. You know the one about not coveting? Its way past the coveting stage. That is a beautiful stock. I would love to see some pics of black or claro with some feather crotch. What can I say? I am a glutton for punishment.

M1Tanker,
If you really want to sell your soul go to the ACGG show next year and see the work these guys do close up. You will find yourself waking up in a cold sweat hearing Chic's voice in your head..."Come to the dark side my son..."

I have seen the pics of the ACGG guns each year and even faithfuly buy tickets for the raffle. I think the drawing is rigged though since I never manage to have my name pulled out. Those guns are amazing.

This forum and and all these custom guns are hell on my savings account.
