Through a dealer I can get a heavy benchrest stock, inletted, swivels and pad installed, and a molded in paint job for $319. Does anyone know of a place were I might get a better deal? (for a Rem 700 & Krieger #17 HV barrel)

Price sounds OK if the guy knows what he's doing with respect to a barrel that heavy. Also, do you really want sling swivels on a benchrest stock...it will mess us the way it rides the bags (snag during recoil).

I'm new to this kind of shooting and wasn't sure about the swivels so thanks for pointing that out. I've met the gunsmith on this board and have seen pictures of rifles he has built. I have no doubt he knows what he is doing.
