I would find a donor action then go HERE to find a stock to my liking....Most people don't really like the HS Stocks that well, and you would be paying for a stainless, fluted, heavy barrel that you were just going to replace anyway!! Mike

If you put a nice McMillan on there you would have a sharp looking tack driver. I basically have the same setup except with a BDL and she shoots better than my abilities.

Bill Morris Akace, who posts here often built one in the last year. He used a Mauser action and put a wood stock on it and it is a tack driver. I will tell him to take a look here and post some info.

Bill, I'm building one on a 700 long action, so I can seat the bullets out for max. powder, with a #5 Shilen 26" barrel, and will be using heavier bullets. Barrel will be throated to allow bullet to be seated within ten to fifteen thousands of lands. A 28" barrel seems a tad long for a light weight sporter, will 2" more help that much?

I bought a 3 year old,300 rounds fired 700 BDL with a good pillar bed and trigger job by Norman Clark.Kreiger barrel being fitted by Precision Rifle Services. I have bought a Swarovski 6-18x50 scope. It may end up a little heavier than I would ideally like. Thanks to all who posted. MAY THE WIND BLOW LIGHT, MAY YOUR GROUPS BE TIGHT.Bill Morris
