Chic Worthing sent me some "work in progress" of an ongoing project that's almost finished. He's about to checker and rust blue it, and call it finished. It's starting to look like a rifle. I really like what I see.

1910 Mexican M98 in 7X57. The wood is English walnut.

Gotta love that wood ..!!

I'd be tempted to "Grey" the metal so as to keep the contrast with the wood ... Big Grin

Lovely rifle. I believe I recall photos of the blank and looked forward to seeing it shaped, it didn't dissapoint.

That is a beauty. Outstanding choice of wood. The tight fiddleback and ink black lines are just awesome. I love how the grain flows up out of the toe area. The 'holy grip area' has a nice flow aswell, then heads straight for the forend . Just beautiful, with wonderful contrasting colors. Bravo!!

Do you have a photo of the stock blank before it was carved?

Thank for sharing.

Ooooohhhhh...ahhhhhhhhh, very nice rifle in the works! Congrats! And I personally love the caliber. A classic through and through...

Beautiful work by Mr. Worthing. Looking forward to seeing it after it has been blued and checkered.

Where did you get that 1936 cocking knob for the 1910 action?

Are you going to have any engraving done on this one?

He's definitely not. I wish I had more but I only had the barreled action for a short time before Chic got it. I'll shoot it from all angles when it's finished. It should be done soon and trust me, you'll be sick of looking at it before it's over with. Big Grin HA!

Yep, I do love the way the grain follows the stock form. Should be very strong. Beauty to say the least.
