I had a post a few weeks ago on reducing the weight of a laminated stock .
Well I was going to post some pic's of my progress .

From the butt , forearm I removed a fair amount of wood
I shortened the stock from 14.7/8", to 13 3/4" , with pad
I added Pachmayr pad , not a cheap piece of plastic ( never got around to grinding it to fit )

Total I reduced the stock weight by almost a full pound .

And started to sand the OD green paint off .

But the other night I took some old factory ammo to the range to see how it shot before I removed the old bedding ( looked like JB Weld )

After shooting it another shooter ask to look at it .
I even let him shoot a few rounds that I had left .

He then offered me way more than I paid for it and more than a new Remington would cost me .
I threw in the cheap Tasco scope and rings .

So we stoped into the gunshop , I paid the $30 for the transfer ( I like a paper trail )

Guess I will have to look for another winter project gun

But I did like that rifle for some reason ..............................

What's with the transfer? Are you a dealer? State law?

It is a personal thing .
I sold a rifle years back , at a gun show .

Several years later I got a call , it had been used in a crime and recovered by the cops

I had a recite I made out with his name and drivers license number

After it was all done , I lost a day of work
But they just wanted to see that I could show where it was , no charges , just a pain in the back side .

I pay the $30 a local dealer charges for the transfer for more of the piece of mind .

Also I know I he can legally own a rifle if he passes the instant back round check

Maybe I am just annal about it now
