Do any barrel manufacturers offer integral ribs? This is for a custom rifle.

Ralf Martini

Granite Mountain, Sunny Hill and Dan Pedersen also offer barrels with integral features.

plus, there are quite a few custom riflemakers that have the capability to make you one in whatever configuration you want.

Steve Heilmann comes to mind, but there are others.
I have seen his work in person and it is immaculate.

Glenn Fewless, ACGG metalsmith, does some of the most fantastic integral ribs you'll EVER see. One of his latest rifles, a 500x3" Nitro, has been seen on the AR Single Shot forum and will be on the cover of the ACGG magazine Gunmaker soon. He wrote an article for Gunmaker a while back, showing how he does his integral Rigby flats.

Glenn is a retired Toolmaker, with all that the title implies. I have several examples of his work and they are impeccable.

Glenn has bored, reamed & rifled his own barrels but I believe he normally uses barrel blanks from other folks for most of his work.

BTW Glenn is also a recent National Champion BPCR shooter, using one of his own rifles. How many smiths can say they've won a national championship, let alone with a rifle that they built themselves?
Regards, Joe

Hal, you hafta join the ACGG as either a full member smith or as an associate for about 1/2 price, the mag subscription is included. I'm not a member but am fortunate enough to have a friend who let me see his mags.

Here's a link to Glenn's 500 Nitro:

If that doesn't work, try the AR Single Shot forum under Gibbs #92.
Regards, Joe

Hal H, you have the equipment to do it with. Why don't you take some photos of your shop and machines that we can dream about.

Thanks folks! This helps

Sometimes I wonder if I'd be happier turning metal and wood; you get to touch it, feel it, and folks recognize and appreciate your work.

Maybe after corporate America one day.
