I've got a Marlin stainless 30-30. I am thinking about having the barrel and mag-tube shortened to the same length as the barrel and mag-tube on Marlin's Spikehorn model.
Will shortening the barrel ruin accuracy?

Anytime you make changes to a barrel that is otherwise shooting well, you run the risk of affecting it's performance. If you are going to do this, keep the muzzle square and make sure that the crown is clean and sharp.
A a GENERAL RULE, short, stiff barrels shoot better than long, thin, whippy ones. If you shorten your barrel, it shot not adversely affect accuracy, provided it is cut square and crowned very accurately. A good crown is o.vf PARAMOUNT importance!!
