I have an 18 inch 870 Remington barrel that the bead came off of. I had it shortened 30 years or so ago for rabbit hunting in the thick brushy bottoms back home, it worked great until recently the small ramp/block (1/2 x 5/16) that the bead was fastened to came off. The 'smith' that did it long ago used some kind of black rubbery type stuff to attach it. Anybody have any suggestions on what he might have used or suggestions on something to reattach it? He is long gone now so can't ask him.

Loctite Black Max 380. Glues everything. It used to be the do all and end all for gluing shit onto barrels. It's just not permanent like solder is. So everybody quit using it when shit started falling off.

When I was a kid. I had the stick. I had the rock. And I had the mud puddle. I am as adept with them today, as I was back then. Lets see today's kids say that about their IPods, IPads and XBoxes in 45 years!

I guess I'll give that a shot as it lasted 30 years the first time. Maybe I'll get lucky and the next time it won't be my problem. Thanks for the advice.
