Ok guy's, I just bought my first G33/40 from a member here at AR.
My question is several fold:
I know I will need to change out the saftey and bottom metal, so now I need help with what else I need to have done. It is a 243 now and that is not really something I have a need for.

The one thing I am thinking about is a Mark Stratton half round/half octagon barrel, other than than I need help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And No Chic, it won't be put in a fleck-stone stock Big Grin

Well, maybe the first place you want to start is taking a look at the one that Stratton is working on. You can see some pretty good photos of it here on AR.

1. grind and polish front ring and rear bridge.
2. New Burgess type bolt handle (decide whether you want it straght or crooked)
3. New safety
4. New bottom metal (you can use 1909 Argentine which fits, but blackburn looks better.
5. Blackburn trigger.
6. Probably have it recarburized/heat treated by your nieghbors Pacific Metal
7. Strattons Octagon barrel
8. Some metal scratching by Mr. Scrollcutter
9. One of those sleek looking stocks by Mr. Customstox.
10. Conetrol Rings and custom bases.
11. Leupy 2.5-8X36
12. Go hunting.

To me, that particular Mauser needs to be his best, i.e., 7x57mm. That is the sine qua non and the ne plus ultra. All else is up to your eminent good taste!
