Is there any inexpensive aftermarket bottom metal available for a mauser that might fit a Persian or VZ?? By inexpensive I mean substantially less than Blackburn or other custom designed bottoms. The price of knowledge is great but the price of ignorance is even greater.

Might want to keep checking these to see when they're in stock again: http://www.e-gunparts.com/product.asp?chrProductSKU=6570 Steve

I know that most custom lovers adhore the idea of aluminum bottoms but Brownells sells a die cast annodized assy that actually looks OK and is about $70 I like it for weight.....and it works!! It's from P. A. W. S. It's certainly not what you'd expect to find on a $10,000 custom....but then not everyone can afford one of them anyway. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." If you do get the numrick bottom, you will need to do a couple things to it. the section of the metal from the rear of the mag through the end of the trigger WILL be bent. I haven't seen one that wasn't... probalby been through 8 or 10 of these myself, plus the others here on AR. you'll have to bend it straight or you will wind up with either bad bedding or torque on the action. you'll need to draw file the seams out of it, as it's cast, not made from milsurp as listed. you MAY need to reshape the trigger bow and make the lever flush with the top of the bow. you will probably need to replace the spring, i've seen a couple of these that opened under recoil. jeffe opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? Another avenue is to watch for a 1909 Argentine Triggerguard Floorplate Assembly on Ebay. They come up on there from time to time, and go for anywhere from $50 with a few pits to $150 for one in pristine shape.

the springfield 1903 milled floorplate looks mighty fine on a custom mauser. You will need to turn down the heads on your mauser screws though. Steve
