Wondering what rules exist for swapping a pistol to a carbine? I am from Iowa and I have no idea what the rules are on something like that. I know we have to have at least 16" barrels here to hunt with.

Wondering if a guy could pick up a contender pistol (old style) and convert it to carbine with a buttstock and 16" barrel?

Been thinking of doing this for quite a while. Be a really small easy carrying, fast handling little gun. Thinking something like 256 Win Mag.

Always purchase a contender or encore as a handgun, as it can be legally stocked and barreled as a rifle. Taking a encore/contender that was sold as a rifle and putting on a pistol barrel and/or stock is verboten. Likewise a rifle stock and sub 16" barrel.

Shows how silly the gun laws can be, but it is what it is.

P.O.I.
All the Contenders and Encores are sold as Pistols regardless of what it is configured at when you buy them. Big Grin
