On my SAKO 300 win mag AV action it has the one pc trigger guard/bottom metal/floorplate and the button that opens/latches the floor plate fell out somehow--how it did this I have no idea as it looks impossible for it to do so--I see no way that it was held in unless it screws in, but I didn't see any evidence of threads in the hole---so does anyone have an idea on what can be done or where I could buy parts or a different trigger guard assembly--they do come in two pc as my 338 has that style---I could epoxy it shut as an option and may do that, but still if anyone can help out I'd appreciate it--I've looked on the internet, but there seems to be no where to buy this part---of course I can go to Beretta and get it from them possibly, but I'd rather see if there's other options out there---chris

IIRC the floorplate/triger guard assy is not one piece. Underneath, the two pieces are held in place by two little screws. There is a notch on the release button that contacts the bottom metal. You need to tighten the screws while holding the button in. IIRC Jim Jim Kobe 10841 Oxborough Ave So Bloomington MN 55437 952.884.6031 Professional member American Custom Gunmakers Guild

Jim--the button is gone(that's the prob) and I have a bastard trigger guard/floor plate as there are no screws--the whole thing is one pc--my 338 has the little screws but not this one---I can't figure out how the button fell out--it makes no sense--I'm going to look at it again and see if there are threads in there( I know I looked before, but maybe they're deep in there and hard to make out) --- I bought the gun new in 1990 I believe and my 338 I bought new in 1989---so somewhere they changed the bottom metal to one pc vs two pc--possibly for a short time---chris

Jim--you were right and I'm losing my mind and feeling a little more than stupid here---it's a two pc set up---now for the life of me I can't figure out why I thought it was a one pc --I thought I had taken it off when I talked to a guy back in Kansas about it---but he wanted $250 for the whole set up and I thought that was steep, so I didn't pull the trigger(sorry)---so now I just need the trigger guard or the button-- Jim or anyone else--do you have any idea where I can get either--- chris

csutton77 I'll look at mine when I get home in a couple of days. Wasn't there a cross pin holding that in? The older Sako's were one piece guard, and the 2 screw edition followed that. You might try Beretta USA. If you have trouble, I have an account there and may be able to help. Jim Jim Kobe 10841 Oxborough Ave So Bloomington MN 55437 952.884.6031 Professional member American Custom Gunmakers Guild
