I have my eye on a well used 243 Sako Forrester L579 action with a pitted barrel. I would like to have a new barrel in 338 federal put on it. Are there any issues with this build? On the surface it is a neat project. Has anyone used this action for a custom build?

I just did the same conversion on a Rem 600. Everything came together perfectly with no feeding issues FWIW... Jay Kolbe

There shouldn't be any glitches. The only thing you might have a problem with is feeding because of the larger neck and bullet but, that's doubtful. "I ask, sir, what is the Militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effective way to enslave them" - George Mason, co-author of the Second Amendment during the Virginia convention to ratify the Constitution

MSsafari, Nope. Can't recommend it at all!!! Why, it will cause you all kinds of headaches and totally excessive costs! Why don't I save you all this frustration - Just sell me the dang thing for cheap, and put that monkey on someones else's back! Good luck! you should be fine! It's the little things that matter.
