What would be the difference in labor cost to set up a Mauser for 375 Ruger compared to 375 H&H? This assumes the customer supplied you with a standard Mauser action and the proper Sound Metal Products bottom metal and follower. Basically the question is: does it cost extra to machine the rails, feed ramp and boltface and get the action to feed a 375 H&H than it would to do the same work on the shorter Ruger? Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt. Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure. -Jason Brown

For my part...a difference of perhaps $30.00 A little less action work on the top for a 375 Ruger vs 375 H&H

The 375 Ruger is quite a bit wider across the shoulder than the H&H. _______________________________________________________________________________ This is my rifle, there are many like it but this one is mine. My rifle is my best friend, it is my life.

Actually, the question is assuming a standard FN 30-06 action with functional bottom metal, what would the cost difference be between doing a 375 ruger using the stock metal and a 375 HH, including the cost of buying a new bottom metal. barrel installation and all Jason, seriously, don't tilt it to the point where you are avoiding the benefits of the ruger... and, frankly, EITHER costs more than buying a cz in 375HH or a ruger in 375 ruger opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? .375ruger/stdM98 makes perfect sense, even if it had cost more.

Last year I had Bill Leeper built me a .375 Ruger on a JC Higgins M50(FN) action. Bill supplied a .375 McGowan barrel. He used the stock bottom metal but worked it over a bit. He also re-modeled the follower. Other work included: Contour, cut and crown, fit and chamber barrel Open bolt face Feeding mods Fit barrel band Re and re bolt handle with a Talley style. Total cost(including shipping) was +/-CAN$900.00 minus cost of bolt handle and band for a total re-calibering cost of CAN$780.00. I restyled and reinforced the stock and rust blued the metal. The rifle holds 3+1 rounds and the feeding is as smooth and trouble free as anything I've ever owned. If It Doesn't Feed, It's Junk.
