Several months ago I asked for help resloving a feed problem for my 1917 enfield. First suggestion I tried worked. Well, "Its Back". At the range last Saturday, 45 degrees. 2nd round slides under the bolt during pickup and creates a heck of a jam. Now the funning thing, I came home, made up a few dummy rounds with the same bullets (250 grain Hornadys) and I cannot duplicate the problem. Tried slow fee, fast feed, start/stop feed, all worked at home. What am I missing here? Any suggestions?

Maybe your magazine spring is allergic to the cold. Does your magazine box fit up into the action properly? Are all the edges on the follower smooth? I would try a new magazine spring if you already haven't done that.

DuaneinND, thanks for the reply. Actually I traded it out with my other 1917 (-06) and the problem went away, until Sat. I just polished the bottom part of the bolt rail and tried 9 times to get it to jam, no luck. Would put it outside and let it get cold but we had a high of 55 degrees here in Indianapolis. Its supposed to be down below 45 this weekend and I will try it in a cold action. ???????

99.9% of failure to feed problems like you describe can be directly traced to the magbox, the follower, the spring or any combination there of. Those three parts are inexpensive and readily available so you might consider trying different ones and see if you can resolve the problem through the old tried and true process of elimination.
