I wound up with a Sporterized 8 X 57 in a trade at a Gunshow today.All matching Numbers.Action and hardware are in good shape.Any value there????? | ||

There is no collector value since it has been sportered. It's now worth what someone will pay for the complete action; probably around $120. | |||

Isn't Erfurt a small ring large thread action? I stocked one in a .280 but didn't have much confidence in it. Certainly wouldn't use it for a mag | |||

If it has Kar 98 on the left rail it is a small ring 98 with largew ring thread. They are nice but not the best choice for a heavy use gun. If it has Gew 98 on the left rail it is a standard Large Ring 98 and as good as any pre 1935 action that mauser made, meaning it may be good or may be a little soft, same with the Kar.
