Erfurt 1915 Mauser Actions,any good???????
I wound up with a Sporterized 8 X 57 in a trade at a Gunshow today.All matching Numbers.Action and hardware are in good shape.Any value there?????

There is no collector value since it has been sportered. It's now worth what someone will pay for the complete action; probably around $120.

Thanks,I guess I worded this wrong.I meant was there any value for using the action for a custom rifle.I realize there is no collector value.Thanks,OB

Isn't Erfurt a small ring large thread action?

I stocked one in a .280 but didn't have much confidence in it. Certainly wouldn't use it for a mag

If it has Kar 98 on the left rail it is a small ring 98 with largew ring thread. They are nice but not the best choice for a heavy use gun.

If it has Gew 98 on the left rail it is a standard Large Ring 98 and as good as any pre 1935 action that mauser made, meaning it may be good or may be a little soft, same with the Kar.

If it is a KAR 98, read this thread. Some good information.

As stated, not adequate for larger caliber chamberings.
