Hello, I am new to the forum. I am a custom turkey call maker and asked a question on our turkey hunting forum regarding a custom built rifle and was refered to this site.
I am interested in having a 7mm rifle made out of wood supplied by me.
And what I need to know is if you all wanted to have a gun made who would be the guy to contact?
If you wouldn't mind sending me a pm I would appreciate it so much.

Sincerely,
John

The most important question is, "What's your budget?"
The second most important question is, "What style are you looking to build?"

Sure enough..

contact Jim Kobe, he posts on here, or Mark Skaggs. These guys do pretty darn good work, and can probably make your pricepoint.

I agree, tough to find for a gun made with a stock from a blank. That will barely cover the stockwork.

I certainly don't want to offend anyone with that price quote. To be honest I really don't know what a good custom gun is worth.
I do know when I make a turkey call I put alot of hours into turning one and finishing it and getting it just right before I sell it for 45 or 50 dollars. And I have had people grimace at that price. But they can always go to Walmart and buy a production call. So I do see your point guys.
So maybe this is a better question.
How much money do I need to save up or how many turkey calls will I have to sell Smiler in order to get a 7mm built out of my blank of wood. That will be super accurate, and some checkering not elaborate, and have a beautiful finish?

What kind of action do you want, Mauser98, Winchester m70, R,R,Remington 700, Savage. Eeker

You could Look for a old JC higgins model 50. Then you will have a nice starting point with a FN m98 mauser.

You say 7mm. Do you mean 7 x 57, 280 Rem, 7mm Rem Mag, 7-08, or some other caliber?

Sonshine

I wonder if you could find a magnum bolt for an Interarms Mark X. I have an Interarms Mark X mauser receiver with a 7mm Rem Mag barrel on it. Nice condition. You'd need to find the bottom metal as well. I could sell it to you for $225 shipped if you are interested. I am sure Mr. Soverns could turn it into a thing of beauty.
