Here are some picture's of my Martini Single Shot. It has a 26" octagon to round barrel with a full length rib and integral quarter rib, with one standing and one flip up rear sight. It has flat top checkering. Caliber is 300 H&H. It has Talley scope rings that attach to the quarter rib. Unfortunately, the pictures do not do the gun justice.

Knowing that good wood and fine metalwork looks 20-30% (my guess) better in person than in pictures, I'd say you have an outstanding rifle. Could you send it to me so that I can get a "better look". I'll put it in my will that it is to be returned to your family.... Canada does have a few really good gun makers. Ralph and Martin if you are reading this, well I'd like to say your many talents came together to make a fine rifle. The pride you have in your work shows through.

Striking, to say the least. That flat top checkering surely lets the grain of the outstanding wood be showcased. Wonderful choice in checkering and cartridge for this rifle. You know I think it is hard to stand out in that room in Reno yet for me Martini's work has done just that, I have never seen better overall completion of a single shot. Many Thanks HBH

Sure is beautiful. Was the rifle put together in the Martini and Hagn shop or did you have someone else stock it? Who did the engraving? Great looking rifle. cheers, - stu

Stu C, I ordered the rifle from Ralf at the 2008 Reno show. Ralf did all of the work, except for the engraving........he told me who he uses for the engraving, but I can't remember his name. I picked out the wood......chose R-12 (shown here; 1st blank on left in both photo's). Here are some photo's of the action in the white after engraving. This is a medium Hagn action with the tang safety option.

MHC I handled a Single Shot Rifle Ralf had at the 2009 show in Reno, was that this rifle?? It was one of the best, if not the best single shots I have ever handled. The Bolt Rifle he had there, likewise, was one of the best handling rifles I have ever seen. The rest of the rifles at the Show handled like Boat Oars compared to Ralf's guns. Wow. Don't know what else to say. And that is an awesome delivery time as well. A year is a short time to wait for a rifle like that. There aren't many rifles of that caliber made every day, that's for sure!

I assume it was the same rifle, as Ralf took it to the Reno show for display at his table. Ralf told me that some guy was trying to buy it at the show (even offered him more than retail), but Ralf said he couldn't do that. The same guy ended up ordering one in .280 Remington.

Beautiful rifle. How does it shoot? xxxxxxxxxx When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere. NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR. I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

I just got the rifle and haven't had an opportunity to shoot it. I still need to put a scope on it and I always like to properly break in the barrel. Ralf did tell me that he was getting 1-1/2" groups when he filed in the iron sights and he thought it was going to be a real shooter. I will report back when I have developed a load for it.

MHC_TX Very nice rifle. I would of choose the same blank. The forend and tip is nicley shaped. Flat top checkering...well, that's just as classy as it gets IMHO. Do you have a close up showing the checkering in greater detail?

MHC, that is a beautiful rifle. The only mistake is that rubber recoil pad. Should have been case colored steel. Art demands it. j

Martini Hagn Rifles are built very much to be hunted with, that is their open & much encouraged philosophy as to why they build them. ..a rubber pad is very much in line with their purpose function & design.

Josh A., I actually agree with you on this point.....if I was going to do it again I would probably order it with a steel butt plate, but I don't think I would have it color case hardened (just checkered and blued). This gun will not reside in the safe.....it will be hunted!

I actually liked the idea of a pad. Very functional on a fairly light .300 that will get used in the field. If you want to dress it up a little, then maybe cover it with leather? I even have a leather pad on my "rough weather deer rifle" and it has held up well over the years. Did you happen to have a chance to find out who did that wonderful engraving?

I am so glad to hear that!... The wilderness is where 4x4 trucks, custom rifles and custom fly rods truelly belong. A little wear & tear over decades, tis a small price to pay for many memorable experiences. If someone cant accept marks on their rifle, I suggest they also leave their hunting boots at home to save wear on the soles, Im sure the guy who then buys them on ebay for $10(when the wife settles your estate) will sure appreciate it......

Not as nice as this Hagn but thought some might enjoy seeing it. Built by Roger Green, Remington 7mm Magnum. Fist load shot 3 into 3/8 inch so I suspect 300 H&H could do as well. Engraving by Eric Gold
