I own a CZ/BRNO ZKK602 .458 Win Mag but want to use the action to build a .338 Lapua Magnum. I was thinking of using the BRNO .458 barrel to build another rifle based on a standard Mauser 98 action. Would it be possible and feasible to recut the BRNO's barrel threads to fit the M98 action?

Yes, you TECHNICALLY could...

it is BETTER if you cut the shank off and rethread

Thanks Jeffe. I was also wondering if the threads of the old BRNO barrel would match those of the new CZ 550 action. Thinking along the lines of fitting the barrel to a CZ 550 medium action (better suited to the short .458 Win Mag anyway). Opinions?
