what is the best general gun oil that will not attract a bunch of dirt?? in times when one needs a rifle, he tends to need it very badly.....PHC | ||

If it goes on wet and the carrier doesn't flash off, then it will attract dirt. Dri-Slide, or, an aerosol type graphite based lube attracts less dirt. | |||

I prefer one of the alcohol-base moly lubes. Paint it on, let the alcohol "flash off" as Malm suggests, and you are left with a very thin, dry coat of moly. Has worked very well on several of my rifles. If you need something even slicker, some brands use the alochol-carried moly as a base coat, then have an additional powder coat of even finer moly which you "burnish" in after the base coat has dried. My country gal's just a moonshiner's daughter, but I love her still. | |||
