Why is it that you see so many early best quality English DGR's, Husqvarna sporting rifles and German pre-war sporting Mausers with LOP's of 14.75-15in? Most of the rifles made here in the states seem to be 14 inches or less.
Thanks, Bob

It seems that offhand competition rifles have shorter LOP's (per a friend of mine who shoots at Camp Perry every year).

Perhaps there was more bench shooting being done, or they hadn't figured out the physiology for offhand shooting?

Jeff, I think you are right. Rarely do I see a scope on this type of rifle. I put a 2-7 Leupold on my Grandson's 6.5x55 pre-war Husky sporter. It has 15in LOP and you really have to stretch the neck to use the scope and it's all the way back in the rings. I think it's coming off. These kids need to know how to shoot with open sights. When got his Red Ryder a few years back, the kid had the audacity to ask me where the telescope was on his rifle. Thanks, Bob
