Based on your experiences, as between Kick-EEZ, Simms Limbsaver or Pachmayr Decelerator, which recoil pad provide the best recoil protection? Is there any real difference between the three?

I have not used the limbsaver pad, but have used the Kick-eze and the decelerators. I much prefer the kick-eze, and it seems to me they work better. There are different ones, the thicker of course work better. They are the only ones that I use now. Red

i used to prefer the kickeze, as it adds weight, lop, and, of course, reduces felt recoil. 470mbogo and rob had convinved me to try a pack f990... and' it's GREAT... soft, light, and DOESN"T TEAR like a kickeez does jeffe

Has anyone tried the "new" Hogue recoil pads yet? They look interesting and given Hogue's design abilities I'm hoping they're a good pad. Hope they're constructed differently than the internal metal skeleton Pachmayr pads. JP

Pfeifer I like the pad the my Hogue stock I have my 375 H&H, it seems to work pretty good, but I think they are only about 1" or so thick, none the less I think they work fine. I bought a simms to put on my 416 just to try one out, should be here the end of the week. If I don't like it I'll put a pac 990 on it, I've used them before, but not sure it's as good as the hogue, but the pac 990 is thick if you need the length. I'm not sure the Hogue will hold up, looks like they could tear real easy (pretty soft). Chances are you might not be able to live on the difference between any of them.

There's one in the Brownells catalog I am looking at; it's 1-1/2" thick and about 5-1/2 inches high by 2-some inches wide. My question is: how do you know before you order if it's going to be big enough for the butt of your stock if you have yet to receive your stock? I've got a Thumbhole Target on order from Richard's now for a month. This is a big stock with a big cheekpiece and all that jazz. No harm in just waiting, of course...

i second jeffe opinion. the kickeeze pads tear very easily. they both work well but my vote goes to the pach. decel , especially now they are being made in the proper "red" color without the stupid white line.

jeffe, I never thought of that. I do have to wonder if they get so many requests for info like that that they just blow off those questions. I have sent them emails over the months asking some questions about their stocks; some they answer, others they don't and in others they will answer one question of several in that one email and ignore the others. I'll just wait until I get the thing and take my decision then. ![]() [ 08-22-2003, 18:52: Message edited by: rootbeer ]
