1910 receiver with 1936 cocking piece, Oberndorf-style bolt handle by "Huntingcat". Lots of filing and polishing left but a good start to an open-sight "stalking" rifle: NRA Life Member, Band of Bubbas Charter Member, PGCA, DRSS. Shoot & hunt with vintage classics.

Nice looking bolt job. Are you going to chop off the top of the mag box and make it a slim fast three shot?

Jim, that's a good idea, I'm sure I'll cut it down at least some. Wish I could find decent bottom metal. Anyone have a spare Blackburn? NRA Life Member, Band of Bubbas Charter Member, PGCA, DRSS. Shoot & hunt with vintage classics.

fla3006, Jim Dubell is going to be cuting a Sunny-Hill standard bottom metal to fit my wife's Mexican 1910 action. Allen It's a Mauser thing, you wouldn't understand.

I just saw a complete originl mil. mex rifle in the local high $$ shop. The tag said "rare 1936 Mex mauser $995". I only had 63 cents in my pocket, Dam

What is the story with the serial number? Will a new one be stamped on the receiver? The only easy day is yesterday!

Serial number would not need to be affixed, since the action is as old as it is.....some add it back, but not necessary. Williams Machine Works

No serial required unless he want's to transfer it to another individual. Possesion by anyone other than the maker for his own use is a no-no. Some ATF types might interpret the rule more aggressively if the action was purchased via an FFL and the number was scrubbed without a new one affixed.

Nice find! I just sent a 1936 Mexican off to David Christman for "the works". He say's by early fall it'll be finished. This will be my last custom. Terry -------------------------------------------- Well, other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

There will be no doubt about it for me. My oldest son is in the 10th grade this year and college is in his future. I've got another soon after to follow. If I can get both of these kids a higher education I will consider my life a successful one. I've got a lot of what it'll take set back, but it'll still be a sacrifice financially on my part. I figure it'll take about 2-3 years to finish all the stuff I've started. After that I want to take some time and enjoy it. Getting these customs built has been interesting to say the least, but I don't consider it fun anymore. Just an exercise in frustration. TC1: Nice bottom metal and barrel. This being the last one are you pulling out all the stops, meaning you have posted some nice rifles here, so is this going out with a bang, great wood and all the good stuff. _____________________ Steve Traxson

Yes, no corners will be cut on this one. Mr. Christman can do some amazing things with a Mauser. For the stock I'm still thinking about it, but I won't be doing it myself. I'll still be around. I'll just be talking about it more than doing it Terry -------------------------------------------- Well, other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

Terry, if I had bottom metal and a barrel like yours, I'd know which way I was going. Huntingcat agreed to do the bolt handle and surface grinding so I let him at it before he had time to change his mind. But it will probably just gather dust now. If I do get busy on it, it will be an open-sight rig, but now there's too many other projects with higher priority. NRA Life Member, Band of Bubbas Charter Member, PGCA, DRSS.
