Anybody have experience with these? Of particular interest to me is the Magnum and what is the deal on the Ultra Mag action? Quality, where these are made and details on how the magnum is built are all of interest.

Anyway here is the link:

I had one of the standard actions. I wasn't impressed. The saftey didn't have a good feel to it. It didn't "click" when it went into position. The trigger wasn't smooth. When cycling the action it had a gritty feel to it and the floorplate had a lot of play. I'm not the type that everything has to be perfect, but I'd want this action completly reworked if I was going top use it.

I don't know anything about the magnum except it's expensive.

Well, other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

The legacy is an investment cast action. It is entirely machined. They can be cleaned up inside and out,I surface grind the front ring to get all the taper out of it. I then turn it upside down on a cnc mill and cut .080 out of the back of the mag.well, this program also takes .045 from the feed ramp, which allows a two piece sunny hill box rail to go in really nice and clean, I also take .095 off the bolt stop to increase the bolt stroke. I open up the back end of the ejection port, because once you cut the bolt stop back you have to so it will eject. I use a cnc mill to open the bolt face. it's a very accurate setup, within .001 off the machine for perp. then lap it perfect. with a jig I made for that. I replace the extractor and the cocking piece with ones' I make, because, #1 the legacy C.P. is loose and floppy on the f.p. that makes recocking difficult and it makes the safety inconsistant. #2 the extractor won't be long enough to fill the e-port. and my extractors are of better quality for overall fit and finish. So far I've done three 500 Jeffry conversions and one 375 H$H and one 416 Rem. The whole thing is worth about $1400.00 at this point, I don't care for the bolt handle sweep on a heavy rifle so warm it up with a torch and straighten it out. In the end you wind up with an action that works very well and is pleasing to look at. Have a good one. Timan

The magnum action is the Dumoulin A 2000 LM from Belgium, 100% machined from forgings and damn nice. Standard Mauser features and comparable to some of the better ones made here. In addition to an extended front ring, it has a .750 bolt diameter and can go up to really big calibers.

A 2000 LM

Billy, they retail for $487 but I think I've seen them sell as low as $250. The big Dumoulin is $3500 retail.
