I bought some of the inletting white that midway sells, typicaly use the stuff from brownells, but thought the white would be good on Ebony. Just wonder if anybody eles has used it before and what they thought. It dang near dries, almost like paint, but appears to work for the most part, but prefer brownells. Whatever substance you choose to use for inletting (and I certainly ain't gonna open that topic up!) the one thing you don't want it to do is dry up. If it dries up you are going to be in a constant state of scraping off the dry stuff and reapplying more.

I bought some inletting gold for dark wood one time. I would have been better off rubbing it on my teeth and writing rap music than inletting with it. "Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

The last rifle I made (a fullstock Hawken), I used an old lipstick I stole from my wife. It did work OK. "Bitte, trinks du nicht das Wasser. Dahin haben die Kuhen gesheissen."

Billy, For inletting ebony....ask your wife if she has any tubes of lipstick that she doesnt like the shade of. Little dab of bright lipstick will do the trick on the ebony.

I've got the inletting gold.. and harry owes me a new keyboard for making me SPRAY coffee all over it, at the thought of him rapping.... stuff worked well on dark wood... but how in the F****** do you get it off the metal and the stock when you are done? reminds me of some of the first inorganic waxes, that just creep and flow jeffe opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? I had some red lip gloss that worked pretty good, although it didnt look that good on me, but it's lost on my bench, thats why I bought the white from midway. This stuff from midway is not as messy as the regular kind, like I said, it dang near dries and comes off pretty easy. I need to use it some more before I decide if its worth using. Its also cheap. I use the gold, white, candle, inletting black, lipstick whatevers within reach..Never had any trouble with any of it, to get it off I wipe it with WD-40 on metal, but I have never had any trouble getting it off, even with a dry rag..??????? mine is Brownells... The secret to any of it is use it sparingly..IMO Ray Atkinson Atkinson Hunting Adventures 10 Ward Lane, Filer, Idaho, 83328 208-731-4120 rayatkinsonhunting@gmail.com

I bought the white stuff too. It's worthless IMO. It is just white paint that hardens in about a minute. Hard as hell to get off the metal, too. "There are only three kinds of people; those who can count, and those who can't."

as hot as it is in South Texas today, I'm sure it would dry before you could get it painted on, I think it's liquid paper...........not kidding. Billy, High in the shoulder (we band of bubbas)
