Is it just me, or do other people struggle to get into some of these blister packs of parts? I keep Bandaids on the bench now, as these doggone things will HURT you!

Amen Bill, I literally hate opening packages like these. Scissors seem to do a decent job for me, though still not easy.

We use the bandsaw at the shop. Some of those paks are actually fake and appear to be heat sealed.

Some years back, my mother bought a knife in one of those packs and the girl on the counter said " I can't put it in a bag for you as it is then considered a concealed weapon" to which my mother replied " I'm 85 years old, it will take me three days to get it out of the packaging"

I've used a Harbor Freight 7" multipurpose scissors for cutting bird legs.
I got another just to open packages like this. It works well.
Crescent Wezsnip looks about the same.

Apart from pissing me off no end trying to open them, the biggest problem with this sort of packaging is that if you need to return the goods for exchange or refund, then the original packaging is destroyed. Many return policies state "must be returned undamaged in original packaging" to get an exchange item or refund.

These are not too bad.

I open these at least once a week.

Try opening Sony video camera battery packs!

It was Friday.

Were out on the beach.

Came home and the girls decided to go to the mall shopping, and me to join them for lunch there.

Got a brand new 8 hour battery for my small video camera, it was bubble packed like these.

Got into the kitchen and found a large chopping knife.

I tried cutting the box, knife slipped, cut a 1 inch slice into the side of my left toe!

Down to the bone!

I was sitting on the floor doing this.

Blood everywhere!

My First Aid kit is down in the basement by the shooting room.

Wrapped a whole bunch of kitchen towels on my foot, went down, put some bandages on.

Went to the mall, as I got out of my car in the car park, I could feel sloshing in my shoe??!

Off to the chemist.

Bought everything I could think of to fix my foot.

Went to the toilets.

Took my shoe off, blood pouring everywhere!

The toilet floor looked like a murder scene in a horror movie!

Luckily, the toilet paper in there was very large.

I cleaned everything up, sprayed the wound with Betadin, closed it with those small butterfly stickers, shoe back on, and off to have lunch with my wife and daughter.

Told them about.

My wife wasn’t happy, she said I should go get stitches!

Never had stitches in my whole life, and have no intentions to do so now.

I can fix myself.

Next morning I promised to take my daughter surfing.

She asked if this was still on.

I told her yes, wouldn’t miss it!

Next morning I got extra large bandages, and camouflaged duct tape.

Very strong.

Put these in a bag and drove to the beach.

My daughter couldn’t help laughing, taking pictures, sending them to her mum and friends.

We had a great day surfing!

Duct tape stayed on!

She still tells her friends about that morning, even now years later.

With a proud big smile! clap

Packaging like that was intended to prevent pilferage. Blame it on the thieving element of society, makes the rest of us struggle.

I'm struggling to find it on the internet, but I know Ryobi made a small cordless rotary blade specifically for opening blister packs like this. You just zip-zip-zip across three edges of the package, and open like a clam. Still doesn't solve the issue of the razor sharp edges left behind on the plastic, but one step at a time. Big Grin

Check out how Ave opens packages on you tube. He’s a little destructive and creative at the same time.

It's not nearly as bad as the massively complete screwdriver set that used to sold that required a screwdriver to get into. Truth here, being serious...

Why is this topic even in the Gunsmithing section? If you can't open modern packaging, get a new hobby. Like baking cookies.
