I have an old custom 3006 Ruger rifle, that the throat is getting a bit smooth, and since I have other 30-06s, Id like to rebore the std wt barrel to a 375 Ruger, what envolved. and is it a good conversion in regards to the action..

Well, the action is the proper length. So,bolt head mods, proper mag box, maybe follower...action may need some mod for function..not exactly rocket science

yes, it's a great platform for it, assuming mkII - whoever rebores it should be able to open the boltface, and you can order the mag and follower . should be darn easy

I was mostly concerned about the cutting of the ejection port in the rear as one would do in say a mod 70, and the cut on the rear of the front ring and perhaps opening the action in the front and rear to allow for seating bullets out..Ive never done any thing with a Ruger 77 action except shoot them..I guess Im wondering if they are a good enough platform for a .375 Ruger..but in the meantime I ran across Ruger 77 Hawkeye pre African for a great price and bought it, but still interested in the conversion process, as my old 77 06 is suffering a shot out throat...Maybe a 9.3x64 or 62..

BTW,mine is an older gun, not a mk2 with grip safety removed and a mod. 70 3 pos. safety made from a section barrel by the late Tony Barnes.

Of course you can mill out the bridge and ring if you want/need to. No different than any other modern action made from chrome moly steel. Believe it or not there are guys out there who still believe they are made from cast iron.

Another option might be just a 30-338 or a 300 winchester?? I could get that done for less cash for one thing and faster as it seems everything is taking much longer return time because of the C virous..??

Can't sell it as it was a gift from my son, I have shot it for years until the bore has gotten pretty bad and groups are opening up, sad as it was incredibly accurate..I just bought a 375 Hawkeye, so I think this old girl would do best as a 9.3x62 rebore..

Yup 9.3x62 rebore. Do you have many smiths who do rebores in the US.

I don’t think we have any in UK. All want to do a rebarrel
