Hello, Fortunate to have ample supply of VZ24 complete actions and involved in a long term campaign of building them up to desireable rifles and want to build one in the 416 Taylor. Curious if feeding of the round through this action is a problem with this arrangement?? Notice a lot of people seem to like this round and not heard of any problems but wanted to check. Thanks

Driver, if you are looking at the cheap route, the AB barrels tend to be a little heavy, but shoto very well, with a recrown. the round is nil harder to get to feed than a 338 win or 458 winmag recoil, with the lightest powder charge of the"near 2400 fps" bullets, it surprisingly light. jeffe opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? Hello Jeffeosso, Not really looking to take the cheapest approach and will use Douglas barrels, been good for me over the years, and already have a solid, straight grained walnut stock set up for it, other than barrel channel, drawers full of brass, and have near nothing in the actions(took in on trade deals over the years) so will set it up with good express style sights, proper rust finish w/ Doug Turnbull treatment on the bottom metal, bolt shroud, etc. and should make it a good looking, working level rifle. Just not interested in struggling with a non functional/feeding rifle no matter how good it may look or how little cost. Thanks

The VZ-24 will require some work on the rails to feed the larger cartridge.....I've never done it but there are folks that do and Jim Kobe did one for me to feed the 300 win mag and it was great!!! The 416 Taylor is a wildcat as you know.....right now I'd wait to wildcat the new 375 Ruger case. The same effort is involved but you'll get rid of the belt (if that's important) and gain a small amount of boiler room. I wouldn't hesitate to build on a VZ-24 action as these things are really excellent Mausers! /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Hello, Thought about the Ruger 375, but already have a 375 H&H and not much reason to somewhat duplicate the round. If it were not for my present 375, the Ruger round would be an ideal set up for sure. I have the 458Lott, 416 Rigby, and the 375H&H and my thinking is that just convert one of these Mausers to something a little different. I hear good things about the 416 Taylor but just want the thing to work like it is supposed to for that caliber/style firearm. Got any locations for those who do the type of work required??
