Gentleman,
20 years ago my Sako AV was glass and pillar bedded. In 2007 I noticed a tiny crack behind the rear action screw(on top). Today was cleaning and put away day and the crack has grown to about half an inch.

This is the shiny lacquer stock.

Can this be fixed?

Is anyone willing to do it?

As always AR rocks!!

Two additions.
When I noticed the crack I relieved the tang contact.

Pics available on request

That is probably why it cracked in the first place, sorry. So it is not in the wrist, it is on top behind the rear tang?

Yes it can be fixed, drill under the crack glass it, match the finish over the crack, I would bleach the crack after its repaired then try some stain, and finish...The sako is probably light wood and that's a problem, but time and effort will hide the crack, maybe even a marks a lot to look like grain..depends on the wood color,Ive done a number of them wherein the break or crack could be hidden even in the sunlight..done some that were not so good, but always better than a crack, a crack grows so the sooner fixed the better. Its ok to relieve the tang but the problem is most folks over do it, you can relieve the tang without a horriblel gap, more like a hairs width..Two cross bolts can make a big difference in preventing cracks..I like them and I have them engraved and blued or case hardened..Some don't care for cross bolts, so threaded bolts that don't show are an option..

Thanks,
But I have no intention of trying to fix it myself...

Sometimes it is the rear action screw and not the tang. Make sure the screw is not contacting the stock.
