Sarco has some never finished FN actions for $48.50. I am interested. It needs the bolt stop hole and ejector slot done. It also needs to be heat treated. Who does heat treating and how much do they charge?

FWIW, it would be a helluva lot of trouble to cut the bolt stop slot and get it heat treated.

Maybe if they were giving them away, but for the hassle and effort involved in making them functional, plus the fact that you also need to find a bolt for the damn thing, just buy a currently produced commercial or a used FN.

Blanchards in Salt Lake City does heat treating and by the time you ship to and from the charge will ruin a "C" note.

This definitely is not a cheap route to go.

Ditto about it being costly. A used, beat up FN, J.C Higgins or Husqvarna on an FN action will run $250 to $350 if you're patient.

Or you can go the Charles Daly route which is an FN knock-off. Not quite as nice and no provenance but very functional for little money.

Would make a nifty paper weight & conversation piece. FWIW the ejector & bolt stop cuts would be pretty easy to do.

Sarco has had these for quite a while. I think they want too much for these. If you could buy 5 for $100 it would be worth while. You need bolt, bottom metal, trigger, these are no bargin, plus the machining.

If you want a bargin FN go buy and old JC Higgins, way cheaper in the end.
