That is one nice looking setup Chuck. One thing I noticed is the Stainless Hex action screws on your rile. I'm interested in replacing the original Philips action screws on my M70 with stainless Hex Screws. Where can I buy these screws? Cheers, Maurice

Yes, I could use a set of stainless hex drive screws also. Looks like a McMillan Hunter's Edge stock. I have one on a stainless .308 Model 70 with olive paint and regular steel Talleys with a 2.5-8 Loopy. Runs 7.3 pounds or so. I stayed with the original three screw bottom metal on it, because of the width of the stock. Yours looks mighty nice, though.

Is Williams still planning to make a magnum Mauser action, or was that cancelled?

I bought all four sets of hex head guard screws a local sporting goods store had. Chuck

I agree that it looks pretty good, but I think it could be better. I think it would look a whole lot better if it wasn't flat on the outside. It should be rounded just a bit and the edge shouldn't be so wide. Otherwise, it looks great on that rifle.

I look at it as the material is there to do with as you see fit as far as fitting to your desire. If the metal wasn't there....it would certainly be a lot more work trying to add it.

No worries and thanks for checking. I know B-Square makes a set of Hex screws for the Model 70 but they are blued steel, not stainless...

I have to agree that the Williams bottom metal is awesome. Especially considering that it costs around $100 for a set in the white. You cant touch the Sunny Hill or Blackburn for three times that amount. And this is on the shelf ready to deliver!!!!! Matt at Williams was a big help to me in getting my set of bottom metal for my 22/250 project I just built. The stuff looks great and they bent over backwards to work around my schedule to get it to me. Impressive products and service. Looks great, Chuck. Nice taste in a backwards rifle, BTW. Those stainless lefties aren't easy to come by. I've got a couple of extractors and a set of bottom metal on the way for one of my M70s. Should be all good. CSSA CPC

I just handled several of these units yesterday. Spectacular for the money. Heard they were forged in South America and finished here. Like Jeffe, hoping against hope that a M98 pattern is soon to follow... Jay Kolbe

I'm still waiting for mine, it doesn't look like they have an inventory on the shelf yet. They look nice and the price is right. I too think mauser metal would be a big success. ______________________ Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.

Glad to see you liked it Chuck and thank you for the good report. It's a good thing I'm not a southpaw, or I'd be pretty envious of that setup. Williams Machine Works
