adam54320021895 caliber conversion
I was wondering if you can convert a 1895 winchester cahmbered to 405 win to 404 jeffery or other cartridges like that? Im not shure if it is a good idea but i thought that would make a different gun then anyone else has seen.

Here is my 45-100! 270 Weatherby besides!
Made from an old 7.62mm musket!
2300 with an 400 grain bullet is duplicating
the 404 jeffery

333_OKHBe careful on pressures, but the 405 Win was originally developed for the 1895. Teddy R loved it on safari.

DigitalDanJust for giggles I'd say that queering a Winchester like that might be a bad play considering that they are closing the New Haven plant. Anyway, the .405 will do about anything you want with proper bullets. My .02 worth.

adam5432002I love the 1895 its my favorite rifle ever. I was just wondering if there is anything i could do to be different. I love 405 and will be getting one in 30-06 soon.

jeffeossoconvert to 450 alaskan
Jens,
not to be difficult, but a .458 400 at 2300 is NO match for a .423 400gr at 2250.. looses all over on SD and bullets

I know..........

I haven`t tried out 500grains bullet in this dude yet, maybe they have a better potential??????. I can improve ballistics with the 400 grains some, shooting pointed bullets!

Those new Winny 1895's are made in Japan by Miroku. And, they are much nicer than the stateside production Winchesters.

RLIThe 1895's in Australia .270,.30/06 are being converted to 9.3x62 if you have a .405 I would leave it as it is
