I recently bought a Hoffman 10.75x68 from Ray Atkinson. The rifle is a sweet shooter but for iron sights only. I recently acquired an early 1948 FN Supreme 300 rifle in 270 win. It is a ingle C cut action in really good condition. It has an unusual stepped barrel. I would like a 10.75 in a rifle I can use a scope. I was thinking of having the barrel rebored and chambered for 10.75x68. The round sets in the magazine box and feeds pretty well. Does this seem to be a way to get a practical hunting rifle for Africa? The rifle is stocked in a good piece of French walnut in a classic style. I don't have that much in the rifle and I think the barrel would be expensive to duplicate. Whom would you recommend to do the reboring job? square shooter

myself? I would send the barreled action to bauska, have them copy the original in their duplicating lathe, with a couple degrees of tailstock offset to add a little weight to the barrel, and be done with it. Boring a 7.62 to 10.75 is going to result in a barrel about as thick and strong as a soda straw..... as I understand it, this is the german version of the 404 jeffe... which is a great all around rifle for africa... Forrest's is loaded at 2000fps, with no buttpad, and feels like a 22 jeffe opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? That stepped barrel needs to have a larger diameter from the last step to the muzzle IMHO. Doug Humbarger NRA Life member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club 72'73. Yankee Station Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.
