I'm about to refinish the stock on an old war horse and I'm going to try to duplicate this color. I've ordered some MEK dye in crimson and ox-blood from woodfinishsupply. I've seen some nice rifles in the past, but now that I'm looking for examples all I can find are rifles were the finish has blackened over time. Any pictures or links would be greatly appreciated. I need them to compare color when I'm blending the dye's.

Thanks
Terry

Hey Jeffe, Not good? Yes, we are talking about methyl-eythel-ketone. They told me it was what I needed for this project. They said it would resist fading better than anything. It doesn't ship till monday, do I need to call them up and change the order?

Thanks,
Terry

Terry,
you still got my number?

MEK makes benzene look like mother's milk.

Now, i've only painted about a million gallons of paint with that for thinner... right in the middle of that town with the W...

MEK makes lacquer thinner look like it dries like oil based paint....

it WILL burn the hell out of you, your projects, and mess you up.

... can you tell i've been "burned" by it...

funny, and TRUE story...

a friend of mine is working for my dad, with me. He walks over to me, says

"hmm, how bad is it if you spill MEK on you?"

i say, "probably not too bad, depending"

"<scared voice> depending on what??!??!"

"well, what and where you got it on you and how much"

"is THIS F*K*K*K*K bad?" he says

i turn around and look... looks like he's poured an entire coke can in his CROTCH....

i throw him my cars keys (mine was probably the fastest car in columbus at the time), tell him to head to the hotel, roll the windows DOWN, do not smoke... and

"..oh, put these ear plugs in"

"wtf do i need ear plugs for"

"... because you ARE going to scream"
