hi....i got a nice stock made for me P17 30-06 and just wanted to know what the critical bedding areas are? the original military stock was free-floating all the way to the forend tip, there was no pressure pad there.....should i just free-float the barrel like the way it way on the orig. military stock OR fully bed the barrel channel too, along with the tang and the base of the receiver behind the recoil lug?? Thanks Zubin One shot..meat! Two shots...maybe...Three shots...heap shit! - Old Indian adage

Zubin, since you stated it's still a 30-06, there's not critical bedding areas, so to speak, outside the normal ones. You can spot bed this... just around the action lugs, and allow the barrel to free float. jeffe opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? Jeffe What if the chambering has been bumped up a tad, say to 375H&H? Any change to the bedding plan than?

TG, on a 375, If I wanted a floated barrel, I would bed from the barrel shank back... but i've got an excellent springfield in 300 win that is only spot bedded.. like an inch of barrel, all of the front lug and surface, and about an inch around the tang... and it's an honest 3/4" gun jeffe opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round?
