Can a commercial Mauser trigger guard with a 3.4" magazine length and hinged floorplate (like on a FN or Interarms Mark X) be used in place of the original military 98 style trigger guard with a 3.315" magazine length with no modifications? David

I just tried to mount a Mark X trigger guard in a Husky 146 stock and it is too tight. Then there is the obvious difference of the length of the military trigger guard with the additional length for the lock screws. I pulled the action from the stock and mounted the Mark X trigger guard to the Husky action and it was a very tight fit. Also, I noticed the extra length of the magazine box extends forward under the action loading ramp creating a ledge. Jim
