I have a beautiful Remington 30S Express, courtesy of a very good friend. I am interested in putting a receiver sight on it. It is factory drilled and tapped on the right hand side of the receiver for the sight. Can anyone please tell me which sight is correct for this rifle? And possibly where to find one?

Bill,

It takes a Lyman 48RS. Call Gary Fellers (817) 346-9633 in Ft. Worth. If he ain’t got one on hand he can get one for you.

I found one I am watching on Ebay right now. What would be a fair price for one to sell for?

Generally they go for $150 and up. More often "and up" than not.

They came in the 30SL which came with the Lyman, and the 30SR which came with the Redfield 102.

The above is from "The Rifle in America".

Will,

Here is my 30S and its original Lyman 48. It is marked off at 25s thru 150. With a 1.81" OAL slide.

Hope you find the one you are looking for.

I have a Rem M30A and it has the stock notched for the aperture sight thereby calling for the Lyman 48R. The 48RS has the extra cutout on the bottom thereby not requiring a ntoch in the stock. I don't believe the Model 30's ever came with the 48RS. Mine also has the correct Sheard 56H front sight blade indicating that it once wore a Lyman 48R - See Stroebel's "Old Gunsights" p86.

I was going to post some pictures but can't get out to my ISP sight for some reason Frowner

Anyone have a 48R they want to part with? Smiler

Refer to my earlier post. This guy has more Lyman, Redfield, Williams, and others, than anyone I have ever found.

I have bought several Lyman 48’s from him including a really nice 48K for a US Krag. It’s certainly worth calling him to see if he has what you want.
