Savage rifles are simple to change barrels on. All it takes is a proper barrel or action vise and a barrel wrench. I rented the headspace gauges for $22 including shipping. There are quite a few barrel manufacturers that make pre-fit Savage barrels. Simple if the bolt head size is the same and if not you can replace the bolt head with a larger or smaller size. mcgowen has been a good choice for me. what's wrong with your barrel? i have personally just reset the headspace to my rounds, and had amazing results .. well, "Amazing" may be an overstatement - AN example - i've taken a 2" 110 to a 1" 110 in about 45 minutes .. 7 rem mag, a layer of aluminum tape over the case head, turn the barrel till snug, tighten the barrel nut, go fire it, groups immediately better ... opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? Only one answer to that; Douglas; the oldest and still the best; all others are inferior in some way. I put one on just yesterday.... Yes, I have used most all of them and I can talk about each one's issues. I know, some guys like the low end ones; fine. But rebarreling a Savage is something a 12 year old can do.

Whew! I've learned on AR that 12 year olds, monkeys too, can barrel Savages and TIG weld. I did not start my gun plumbing career until my 40's. What other gunsmithing skills should I have learned when I was 12? And as a Mountaineer in diaspora, I am proud to agree about Douglas. Their service cannot be beaten, even by a 12 year old monkey.

Another Mountaineer of origin; at age 12 I was refinishing all my Father's friends' shotgun stocks and charging them for it!

Have a Stevens/Savage barrel 30-06. Was a take off for a caliber change marked 110.. If you are needing a barrel. Just as a note I am over 12 now Never rode a bull, but have shot some. NRA life member NRA LEO firearms instructor (retired) NRA Golden Eagles member
