Ruger 77 stocks?

I have a M77 243 that I'm thinking about building into a 6mm-284. I have noticed there is a great lack of aftermarket stocks for the original tang-safety M77. Can a MkII stock be modified to fit the original M77? Any other options?

Thanks!

To keep my 77 wood stock pristine I picked up a ramline fibergalss stock for about $45.00 -- no modification needed.

That's good! I like their stocks, but didn't see the old M77 listed. I'll give them a call, thanks.
