We all use lathes but, the truth is, the make and model of the lathe is largely meaningless. Good work is done on some of the fine old American lathes as well as on the new Taiwanese lathes. I am confident that I could make a lathe with which I could do good work. In general any lathe of a ten to fourteen inch swing and 36 to 48 inches between centers is potentially a good gunsmithing lathe. Regards, Bill.
