On my Marlin 39A, I have Lyman's 56 sight. Is this sight designed and intended to remove/replace its horizontal bar? I ask because I want to mount a scope with Warne steel detachable mount/rings assembly. If remove/replace Lyman 56's horizontal bar will not harm its zero or harm the sight's longevity, I want to keep it affixed — that is, base affixed permanently; horizontal bar in a pocket on the sling. It's so simple to be wise. Just think of something stupid to say and then don't say it. Sam Levinson

The Lyman 56 is not designed to be dismounted like the Lyman 48 sight. I'm sure someone could dismount it in the field but it would not be quick or easy.

You have to unscrew the 56 as I recall, the 48 has a button you push down pull it out and stick it in your pocket incase your scope goes south.. Ray Atkinson Atkinson Hunting Adventures 10 Ward Lane, Filer, Idaho, 83328 208-731-4120 rayatkinsonhunting@gmail.com

The Lyman 57SA on my Savage 99 has the same release button...Give Lyman a call and have your rifle handy and tell them what you need...
