I'm sure Jeffe is off to the swap meet. He had the rifle at the last Bubba shoot. He was fireforming some brass. Still needed some serious work before I would call it finished.

I believe we have talked on the 550 flanged's status previously, perhaps you could review your PMs on the matter; as you can see above, nothing has changed.

I am sure it is a much more difficult project than just screwing a new barrel onto a bolt gun.

not really... the regulation will be harder than getting a scope to work on a rifle someone else built, though.

Poleax is just reinforcing that this is my first double, which is basically what I said. How can one ever become an accomplished doublerifle builder if one is less than completing the first one? In fact, how could one ever present an opinion on how to build one and it's trials, if one hasn't even the knowledge and experience of even starting one?

What I wouldn't mind seeing is Dan's and Poleax's home built doublerifles, to learn from. That would be an excellent learning experience in the matter. I believe we would all gain an interesting perspective into how one can build a double rifle from them.

It seems an easy thing, to be critical from the sidelines. It's always another thing to be in the game.

Such is life. there's professionals in every field and opinions vary.

Aha! New tactic employed: Discuss another issue instead of the one at hand.

As you can tell, I have been watching the .550 project with interest for quite some time, including the 550 mag, the 550 express and the 550 flanged. It is disappointing that the towel appears to have been thrown in on the 550 flanged. And that's no quote - just a conclusion based on the actions that have (or have not) occurred.

FYI the 550 is on hold because I haven't gotten the dies finished. Jeffe has been after me to break away from work to get them done but for various reasons I haven't yet.
When I get some time I will get them finished up and then Jeffe will be on the road to completeing the rifle. He can't regulate the thing without ammo for it.

Glad to hear that the project will proceed forward, and good luck with it.

I'll be glad to loan you the reamer and headspace gages, if you would like to go ahead and start your own project on that? Serious offer, no joke or kidding. As I stated, it is not a high priority project.

nah, didn't mean to close the thread... the offer is serious, though. if you like, you can borrow the reamer and gages... even the mule to get you going. No catches, other than send the stuff back when you are done using it.
