Gunline are 60 degree. I do not know what Dembart are but it does not matter. They are only used for layout. You deepen them with single line cutters with the angle you want for the finished diamonds.

I don't have any finer than 20 LPI but all of mine are 90 deg.

You can buy them in 60, 70 and 90 degree angles.

Bill, he is asking about LPI tools so it is two, three or four line cutters, not single line.

For layout, I prefer a 60 degree cutter. It gets the line in deeper and faster. Plus, I can see the work better.

I would then believe that the 60deg cutter would have different effective "thicknesses"...

Yes, Jeffe.

The 90 degree cutter cuts as wide as it cuts deep. the 60 degree cutter will cut deep faster than wide. For layout, you simply want the lines in the wood suffiently wide and deep to hold your finish cutter.
